I do not write nearly enough. I used to write random shit all the time and find it has so many benefits both ā€œon and off the fieldā€.

On the personal front, I used to journal every morning. I’d just wake up and with coffee, write 5-10 random sentences about life. Admittedly, I’ve been slacking but it’s so dope (even now) to go back and read the last few years. It really does help put life in perspective and again, has so many benefits that I don’t need to explain here (just google why writing is good for you haha)

But now as a CEO, I see immense value in keeping a daily journal specifically for business. Ideally, it’s a private daily log completed at the end of the day that recaps the days events.

A template I found in Notion looked something like this:

The entry should take less than 5 mins to complete. < 5 mins a day to have a log of your daily life as a leader…pretty dope. Think about being able to look back at the end of the month of all that you accomplished and finding all sorts of patterns about work, your life, and more (for example: I found that for whatever reasons my Fridays are way less productive).

Admittedly, it’s hard to remember to do. I’m probably averaging 3/5 days a week, hopefully soon that’s 5 and will keep y’all posted on how it goes and how I’m getting the most value out of it.

Lastly, I think it helps you just ā€œclock outā€ of the crazy day that comes w/being CEO and gives you somewhat to look away, reset and refresh — whatever that looks like.
